About Asymmetrix Entertainment Inc

Asymmetrix Entertainment, Inc’s mission is to educate America’s youth through music, motion and scholarship.  Many schools across the country have had to close their band programs due to funding shortfalls. AEI’s goal is to offer several educational events so that students have an opportunity to perform and compete on a regional and national level and earn scholarships so they can continue to perform at the college level.

Programs and events promoted through AEI help inner city and at risk students by giving them a goal to work towards and keeps them off the street and involved at band camp in the summer, band practice during the fall, parades and competition during the winter. The time and energy students put into these events help them create positive goals to become the best band in the country. The band competitions offer an opportunity for students to perform on a national stage where they are judged by the quality of their production and not their inner city background. The competitions also inspire pride and respect in the hearts of students, through preparation, hard work, discipline and competitiveness.  These attributes create a formula for success and builds future leaders.

Our program helps teach students discipline in the areas of reading music and performing. The program also teaches leadership skills as it relates to organizing and leading other students to learn drill exercises and, finally, the importance of becoming physically fit for marching.  Our primary focus is to support high school marching bands, concert bands, and Jazz bands.  The primary areas of concentration are on the evaluation and critique of band performance, raising scholarship funds for college education, and providing instructional clinics and leadership conferences for band Directors.

Our Goals

AEI is a non-profit scholarship organization founded on the principles of promoting academics excellence through music and performance education.  Our commitment is to encourage students of all ages, spectators and participants to become actively involved in our activities and to pursue a higher education. Music education programs are vital to many communities across the country and AEI is dedicated to ensuring all children have access to quality education, which includes music.

Research indicates that a student’s involvement in their schools music program is a crucial part to a complete education. Musical study develops critical thinking and self-discipline skills, improves a child’s basic math and reading abilities, and self-esteem.  Also, researchers have found that children involved with music education are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college and are less likely to be involved with gangs and substance abuse.

A
EI’s goal is to produce five annual premier band events, featuring over 60 bands from around the country. These events will not only attract bands from around the United States, but also draw many spectators and parents from local communities. The number of youth reached with this program between the ages of 13-18 since 1999 is in excess of 55,000 and growing; the number of adults, parents and teachers involved exceed 45,000; and the number of cities and states covered is 36 and growing.  The projected number of youth, teachers and parents to be reached over the next several years is projected to increase by 5-10 percent annually.

Our Background and Philosophy

As a former music educator and marching band member, the founder and President of Asymmetrix Entertainment Inc., plan to attract national attention to participants in traditional high-stepping marching band programs. Asymmetric held its first Annual National High-Stepping Marching Band Championship in 2002 and its success was one of historic proportions.  There are well over 300 traditional high-stepping marching bands across the United States.  These bands spend countless hours perfecting their skills, supporting their school athletic programs, serving as ambassadors for their city or state and performing at some of the nation’s largest sporting events and outdoor festivals.  Without an official national competition, the hard work and discipline of these traditional marching bands have gone unrewarded on the national level.  AEI plans to change this national trend.  Our strategy is to:

1) Promote growth and participation in school music & fine arts programs.
2) Spark and renew community interest and support of these programs.
3) Provide a competition of national caliber to reward the skill and precision of high-stepping marching bands from across the country.
4) Provide scholarships for academic and artistic achievements.

AEI’s five year strategic goal and vision is to develop a national competition venue that involves all high stepping bands across the United States. This national forum is needed due to the fact that one does not currently exist for high stepping bands to compete on a national level.  The overall vision is to expand on a global level and have bands compete from all over the United States.
