Organizational Overview

The Asymmetrix Entertainment, Inc. (AEI) focus is to support high school music programs across the country.  The primary areas of concentration are on the evaluation and critique of band performance, raising scholarship funds for college education, and providing instructional clinics and leadership conferences for band Directors.

Our Project Focus

Asymmetrix Entertainment is a non-profit scholarship organization founded on the principles of promoting academic excellence through music education and performance.  Our commitment is to encourage students of all ages, spectators and participants to become actively involved in our activities and to pursue a higher education. Music education programs are vital to many communities across the country and Asymmetrix is dedicated to ensuring all children have access to quality education, which includes music.  Research indicates that a student’s involvement in their schools music program is a crucial part to a complete education. Musical study develops critical thinking and self-discipline skills, improves a child’s basic math and reading abilities, and self-esteem.  Also, researchers have found that children involved with music education are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college and are less likely to be involved with gangs and substance abuse.

Asymmetrix Entertainment’s goal is to produce annual premier band events, featuring bands from around the country. These events will not only attract bands from around the United States, but also draw many spectators and parents from local communities. The number of youth reached with this program between the ages of 13-18 since 2002 is in excess of 100,000 and growing; the number of adults, parents and teachers involved exceed 50,000; and the number of states represented in our events is 36.  The projected number of youth, teachers and parents to be reached over the next five years is projected to be in excess of 1,000,000.

Mission and Purpose of Organization

The mission and purpose of Asymmetrix Entertainment, Inc. is to educate America’s youth through music, motion and scholarship.  Many schools across the country have closed their band programs due to funding shortfalls. AEI’s goal is to offer several educational events so that students have an opportunity to perform and compete on a regional and national level and earn scholarships so they can continue to perform at a college level.

Programs and events promoted through AEI will help urban and minority at risk students by providing goals to work towards and keep them off the street and involved at band camp in the summer, band practice, parades and competition during the fall and winter. The time and energy students put into these activities enhance positive youth development. The competitions offer an opportunity for students to perform on a national stage where they are judged by the quality of their production and not their inner city or minority background. The competitions also inspire pride and respect in the hearts of students, through preparation, hard work and discipline.  These attributes create a formula for success that will build future leaders.

Our program helps teach students discipline in the areas of reading music and performing arts. The program also teaches leadership skills as it relates to organizing and leading other students to learn and, finally, the importance of becoming physically fit for marching.

Background and Philosophy

As a former music educator and marching band member, the founder and President of Asymmetrix Entertainment Inc., plans to attract national attention to participants in traditional high-stepping marching band programs. Asymmetrix held its first Annual National High-Stepping Marching Band Championship in 2002 and its success was one of historic proportions.  There are well over 500 traditional high-stepping marching bands across the United States.  These bands spend countless hours perfecting their skills, supporting their school athletic programs, serving as ambassadors for their city and state while performing at some of the nation’s largest sporting events and outdoor festivals.  Without an official national competition, the hard work and discipline of these traditional marching bands have gone unrewarded on the national level.  Our goals are to:

1) Promote growth and participation in school music & fine arts programs.

2) Spark and renew community interest and support of these programs.

3) Provide a competition of national caliber to reward the skill and precision of high-stepping marching bands from across the country.

4) Provide scholarships for academic and artistic achievements to deserving students.

Asymmetrix Entertainment’s five year strategic goal and vision is to continue to develop a national competition venue that involves all high stepping bands across the United States. This national forum is needed due to the fact that Asymmetrix is the only organization that provides these young people a chance to excel on a national level.  Our vision is to join with a television network and expand our audience to a global level and have bands compete from all over the United States.
